Tragic Weekend
I was heartbroken as mike and I took a stroll around Iloilo City yesterday. There are no exceptions whenever nature call. Typhoon “Frank” is no longer here in Western Visayas memories of the disaster will surely take long time to heal. I myself was not expecting this kind of calamity knowing that the PAGASA stated in their weather report that the typhoon will not going to cross the country. But it turns out that nobody could ever predict the weather. No matter how high tech the equipments are this calamity only proves that danger cannot be foreseen. Now we know how fast the weather can change.
The side of the eye of the typhoon touched Western Visayas as it crossed the country causing flash floods and landslides. Its strong wind caused trees and electric posts to be knocked off. Electricity is out since Friday evening and it will gonna take almost a week to be fix on some out of town areas. A lot of families cannot do anything but to watch their houses being swept by the flood. Some didn’t even manage to save their things and the worst thing is finding their love one’s dead or missing on the flood. Some of them are up on their rooftops since Saturday morning waiting fro the rescuers to fetch them.
Most of the towns are still under the state of calamity until now because of the severe damage that the typhoon caused. Thousands were evacuated in schools and gymnasiums. Provinces of Antique, Aklan, Roxas and Estancia are among who suffered terrible loss too.
In this time of need prayer is one thing that we can offer to all our fellowmen who suffered great losses.
